A Christmas Presentation at School
We are all excited for Keisha's Christmas presentation at school tomorrow. She will be dancing to the song Christmas in Our Hearts with other classmates of hers. I am so excited and nervous about tomorrow - I hope she does well and does not forget her steps. I will be taking lots and lots of pictures and will also be recording a video of the entire dance. Wish me luck that my batteries don't die on me!

Joe Jonas Dancing Single Ladies

Keisha loves the Jonas Brothers, and she laughed hysterically when she saw Joe Jonas dancing to Beyonce's Single Ladies.

November 30 is Bonifacio Day
Today is November 30, Bonifacio Day here in the Philippines and it's a regular holiday. This means that there are no classes and no work in most of the offices here. It totally slipped my mind that today is a holiday, and we woke Keisha up for school. She got all dressed up, and went to school. She came back a few minutes later.
We have a tricycle service that fetches her to and from school, and he didn't come today. Also, there is a public school close to where we live and I noticed that it was unusually silent. I should have known, lol!
Keisha felt embarrassed that she went to school when there was no school, but I told her it was better compared to not going to school when there are in fact classes.

Active Fun @ SM North EDSA
Last Saturday, Henry and I took the kids to Active Fun in SM North EDSA. Henry had scored two gift certificates for an hour's worth of playtime, and we grabbed the chance to take them there.
Keisha had a blast with the slides, the pool filled with balls, and almost everything the playground had to offer. I took a lot of pictures of them, before Nicole decided she wanted me in the playground instead of her dad.
The day was concluded by a trip to Toy Kingdom as we saw they were having a three day sale. Keisha and Nicole bought a big box of battery operated kitchen toys which they love playing with.
I'll be uploading pics of the kids in the playground as well as Nicole's video on the slide soon.

Keisha's Birthday Party at School
Today Henry, Nicole, and I went to Keisha's school so that we could give out the food we ordered from Jollibee to her classmates. Although her birthday was on the 29th, we decided to have her party at school today, because last week was their schedule for their second quarter exams.
Because of the recent storm that hit the country, classes last Friday were suspended and the exam Keisha was supposed to take then was scheduled for today. Our supposed to be party set for today at 9AM ended up with us just giving away the food. It ended up OK, because her teacher asked both sets of the students to sing for Keisha the happy birthday song.
Keisha enjoyed the day, and I'm glad her birthday this year was very memorable.

An Advance Birthday Present
Henry and I decided to buy a puppy for Keisha's birthday on the 29th. We picked out a Shih Tzu puppy so that the puppy will be one she can play with and can stay inside the house with her. Plus, since it is a toy dog, the puppy will not grow bigger and she will not be afraid of it. Here are some pictures of the puppy as he was advertised by the seller we bought him from:
I'll be posting pictures of the puppy with Keisha as soon as I have some free time to snap some pictures and upload them here.

Lola's Off to Hawaii
Today, including the past few days have been really stressful for Keisha, whether she admits it or not. I know Keisha is very sad that her grandma is off to Hawaii today, October 3, which is also why she is very quiet. It breaks my heart to find out that she has repeatedly asked her grandma if she can just stay here with us. I guess in time she will understand that we all have our own dreams, and this is her grandma's.
I will miss my mom in law myself, but I need to be strong for the kids, especially Keisha. She has this tendency to keep her emotions hidden, and I will just do my best to make sure she is happy and well taken cared of.

A Trip to Museong Pambata
A couple of days ago, we accompanied my mom in law to the US Embassy when she submitted the additional documents the embassy asked from her so they could send her visa. Everything went well, and they took her passport and advised her to wait for her visa at home.
As we waited, Henry and I took the kids to the US Embassy, which was a few short steps away from theUS Embassy. The kids had a blast looking and touching the displayed items and images, running around the halls, riding the fire truck, pretending to be vendors in the stores, and even climbing walls! Here are some image we took.

No Classes - National Heroes Day
Today, August 31st is National Heroes Day and Keisha doesn't have any school. This is one of the Philippine holidays that I love because on this day, we get to celebrate and remember the heroes who sacrificed their lives just so we could be where we are now - free!
I hope this holiday will also become one of Keisha's favorites as she grows older.

Keisha's 2nd Tooth Extraction
Today I had the privilege of making history in the eyes of my child Keisha. She had her first tooth extraction a few days back and the tooth beside that started shaking as well. When we checked, her permanent tooth was already peeking from the back.
Henry went out to see if the dentist's clinic was open as it was a Sunday, but unfortunately the clinic was closed. Keisha wouldn't stop putting her finger to her mouth, so I decided to take her upstairs with me and take out the teeth myself.
Keisha was naturally scared at first, but after a few good shakes and with the promise of ice cream afterwards, I managed to pull her tooth out.
My fingers still hurt, but I'm glad her gums are healing a lot faster compared to when we had the tooth taken out by the dentist. Hmmm...maybe I make a better dentist! Lol!

No Classes - Ninoy Aquino Day
Keisha does not have any classes today, August 21, 2009 as it is Ninoy Aquino Day.
I recall when I was younger. I loked forward to holidays like this not because I wanted to celebrate, but because it meant I could watch as much TV as I wanted on the night before, and sleep unitl lunch on the morning. I was happy when there were no classes because that meant I could sleep in as much as I wanted to and not do my homework until the next day.
I know that when Keisha gets older, she'll also begin to understand what the holidays are for and what it means. But for now, I totally understand her liking for holidays and how she can sleep late and wake up even later.

Keisha's First Tooth Extraction
We took Keisha to the dentist last Saturday for her first ever tooth extraction. Her front tooth on her lower jaw was already loose, and the new tooth was already peeking out from beneath. We took her to the dentist and handled the injection very, very well.
Henry recorded the entire event on my Nokia 5800. We will be uploading the video shortly.

New Pictures of Keisha
Ever since we took home the Neo Vivid 1193 netbook, Keisha has been going gaga over it. She keeps telling us that she wishes things weren't a dream because she was really happy and excited to have a laptop.
Keisha is turning 6, and sometimes I wonder if I can already fully trust her when it comes to taking care of gadgets and electronics.
The pictures above are those which I took of Keisha with the netbook.

We Watched Harry Potter 6!
Henry, Keisha, Elena, and I watched Happy Potter and the Half Blood Prince yesterday at SM Valenzuela. We had a great time watching the movie. This is also the first time Keisha watched a movie with her Tita Elena, and after so many months, this is also the time when Henry and I got to watch another movie.
I was so happy because we all knew that Keisha had a great time. She was also crying in some of the scenes in the movie. When the movie ended, she decided to go with Tita Elena's house and she just got home today.
Although I missed her like hell, I let her have a great time with my parents and my sister. Now she's home, I am glad that I was able to share with my parents and my sister her happiness over yesterday's event.

Excited About Harry Potter
Keisha is going to watch Harry Potter 6 with my eldest sister on Sunday, the day when her mid quarter exams are already finished. She's been studying really hard because she wants to watch the movie on the big screen. I'm just glad her exams are over and watching the movie with her favorite aunt is just icing on the cake.

Thank You Blogger
I received a message from Blogger that this blog was supposed to be blocked as it was suspected to be a spam blog. I had to submit a request that the blog wasn't spam, and a reap person reviewed the site and it did get unblocked.
Thank you blogger for fixing this issue. This blog has been with me for several years and I'd hate to see it be blocked just because the robots thought it was spam.

A Star At School
My heart bursts with pride whenever I see Keisha come home from school with a star on her hand. Today's star was because she did a good job at reading out loud at school. Since last year at the age of 4, Keisha already knew how to read. Of course, at first she didn't get to read out loud, but as the months at school went by, she began to read faster and faster.
I recall how she would syllabicate until she got the word right. I also recall how she kept asking us how to read a certain word and how it was supposed to sound. I'm glad that now, she's got the hang of it. Of course, there are some words that she still needs some work on, but as her vocabulary expands, I'm sure she'll get the hang of it.

Off to School!
Today's another Monday, and it's my first day off. Some of my office mates wonder why I would prefer a weekday off instead of weekends off. Mondays and Tuesdays are those days which makes me not regret why.
Why? You might be wondering as well. It's because Keisha has school on these days, and I can take her to school. I get the chance to have little chit chat sessions with other parents and with her teacher. I get to see her artwork hung on their classroom walls, and of course I can bathe her, dress her for school, fix her hair, and all those stuff. I guess having Mondays and Tuesdays off makes me feel like a normal parent.
During my workdays where I leave at 4:30 in the morning and get home around 3:30pm or so, she's already come and gone from school and there really isn't much I can do. I guess being able to make preparations for her before she goes to school makes me feel like a real parent. What do you guys think?

The First Day of School, Really
Today Keisha finally went to school after missing the first 3 days of it last week. She had a fever and since it was raining pretty hard last week, rather than risking her getting a relapse, Henry, my mom in law, and I decided to just let her miss the first 3 days.
I took her to her classroom and shook hands with her teacher and then after introducing myself, explained politely why Keisha missed school amidst the other parents asking her questions at the same time. Her teacher didn't seem to mind, and I found out 6 other students also missed out on the first 3 days with reasons of their own.
I'm glad that since Keisha knows where her room is and already got a glimpse of her new schoolmates for the year, it will make the following days much easier for her. She even got to pick her own chair!

The First Day of School
Today is Keisha's first day of school as a Kinder 2 pupil, but unfortunately, she's staying at home because she has a fever. She's almost better and we all want her to rest as much as she can. Besides, there isn't much activities for today since this is her first day of school.
I am hoping that tomorrow she'll be OK to go to school. I still have to iron her uniforms, something I deliberately did not do yesterday since I knew she wouldn't be going to school today anyway.

A New Puppy
Yesterday, Henry came home with a present for the kids. It's a dachshund, and the kids are going gaga over it. It's just a month and a half old, and I'll post pictures of the kids with it as soon as I can. I wish I was there when Henry came home, he said that he couldn't paint the kids faces when they first saw the puppy.
Keisha said she'll name the dog Ron, from the Harry Potter character.
