Family Day Today

Henry, my mom in law, and I are planning to have a family day today. We plan on going to the mall later after lunch and watch a movie. All of us, including Keisha and Nicole, will be watching this general patronage horror-comedy movie that Keisha has been asking about.

I am uncertain as to how Nicole will behave inside the theater, but with all of us there, I'm sure we'll have a good time. I also hope that Keisha will enjoy watching the movie, and that this will be a day she'll really enjoy. With both Henry and me working most of the week, I hope I can somehow compensate for the times I'm not around. I also hope it won't rain and spoil all of our plans.

I love you Keisha.

On Coughing and Ice Cream

Keisha's beginning to show signs she'll be having a cough, well, she already has a slight cough right now. But one of her godfathers gave her ice cream and Henry was having a hard time dissuading her from eating it. I understand that Henry just doesn't want her cough to get worse, but kids will be kids.

Keisha still had her way and ate her strawberry ice cream. She just ate a small portion, which I said was fine. I'm not a medical professional or whatever, but I just hate the look Keisha gives us when she feels upset. It makes me feel we're depriving her of things, when it's the other way around. My husband and I go on days without seeing each other just so we can give the kids what they need and what they want.

All I can say is, I hope when Keisha grows up, she'll come to understand that we are only thinking of her and what's best for her. If she didn't have a cough I'd let her eat the whole can of ice cream.

Happy Thanksgiving to All!

Happy Thanksgiving to All!

Terribly Sorry

Hi all!

We're terribly sorry for not having been able to update this blog as we had planned. This week has been really busy for all of us. For me, I'm still in the process of getting adjusted to a whole new work schedule. My mom in law has been busy reviewing Keisha for her mid-quarter exams which will last until Friday, and Henry's away on a trip and will hopefully be home tonight.

To be honest, I haven't had the luxury of getting enough sleep recently. I guess being used to a certain shift for almost 11 months can get the best of you, and this new shift of mine has been driving me nuts. Imagine, I've been late twice in a week! Grrr!

Oh well, moving on to Keisha...As I've said, it's her mid-quarter exams for this entire week, and my mom in law has been reviewing her well. They focused particularly on her Reading class, and I hope her grades will be better this quarter.

I am amazed at how time flies. Imagine, just a couple of months ago I was teary-eyed to see her off on her first day at school, and now the school year is almost over. I guess I really am getting older.

Eating Ice Cream

Keisha's finishing her second container of ice cream right now, and my mom in law is putting Nicole to sleep for her afternoon nap. Today went like any other day, nothing out of the extraordinary happening.

Keisha came home from school with 2 stars on her hand, which meant she did a pretty good job at school today. Do visit pictures of Keisha pigging out on ice cream.

Keisha's 2nd Quarter Report Card

Last Saturday, Henry went to Keisha's school to get her report card as I was still at work. When I got home, everyone was so tense because we found out that Keisha's grade in her Reading subject dropped a drastic 4 points, from 93 in the first quarter down to 89 this quarter. We were so surprised as Keisha's score in her 2nd quarter exams was a lot higher compared to her first one. This was also the first time Keisha will get a line of 80+ in her report card, as all of her grades in her first quarter were all line of 90+s.

As for her other subjects, her grades went up by one point or remained the same. I'll have a talk with her teacher later after her classes to see what went wrong with her grade in Reading for this quarter.

What's worse is that if Keisha didn't get that kind of score in her Reading classes, she would have been included in the overall top 10 for all the Kinder 1 students in her school. She only needed 0.33% to be included. *Sigh*

Looking Back on Keisha's 5th Birthday

Looking back on Keisha's birthday, we had such a great time. I want to share other rides in Star City that Keisha wasn't able to ride in because she didn't meet the height/age requirement:

The Surf Dance ride seemed too scary anyway, and I wouldn't want Keisha riding in it unless her parents are with her. It swings you back and forth and people who were riding it were really screaming their lungs out.

Here's the Star Flyer ride. Henry, Leslie, and Donna rode this one. It's sort of like a modern roller coaster that takes you for a 360 degree spin. I just watched them ride it and scream their lungs out. Leslie did most of the screaming, by the way.

Keisha's Star City Adventure Part 8 - The Rodeo Ride

Here's the 8th and last part of Keisha's Star City Adventure. Kindly read Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6 and Part 7 if you haven't. This is her riding the Rodeo ride. What makes this ride special is that she rode it all by herself.

Keisha's Star City Adventure Part 7 - The Ferris Wheel

Here's the 7th part of Keisha's Star City Adventure. Kindly read Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, and Part 6 if you haven't. This is her riding the Ferris Wheel. All of us were packed in a unit on the wheel, enjoying the view below.

Keisha's Star City Adventure Part 6 - The Wormy Worm

Here's the 6th part of Keisha's Star City Adventure. Kindly read Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, and Part 5 if you haven't. Here's Keisha riding the Wormy Worm ride. All of us rode it, me, daddy, Lola Monic, and Donna.

A Gift from Mom

Leslie bought these doggies from an officemate of hers and she bought them for Keisha and Nicole. Keisha took the dog on the left, the one that's light colored, and Nicole well, she obviously had the other one.

The kids are using them every now and then. It's actually a bolster pillow with doggie heads. They're still fairly clean up to now, and they look nice, don't you think?

Keisha's Star City Adventure Part 5 - The Mummy

Here's the 5th part of Keisha's Star City Adventure. You can read the Part 2 here and Part 3 here and Part 4 here if you haven't. It's a picture of the walk-in ride called The Mummy. I didn't know picture-taking inside the tunnel wasn't allowed so I snapped pictures away until a personnel from Star City asked me to stop. Sorry, I didn't know!

Keisha's Star City Adventure Part 4 - Gabi ng Lagim

Here's the 4th part of Keisha's Star City Adventure. You can read the Part 2 here and Part 3 here if you haven't. It's a picture of the walk-in ride called Gabi ng Lagim. Keisha was so scared when she came out of the tunnel as she said there were ghosts (people in costumes) scaring those who came in. But she said she had a good time although she didn't want to go in again.

Keisha's Star City Adventure Part 3 - Snow Whtite and the Seven Dwarfs

Here's the 3rd part of Keisha's Star City Adventure. You can read the Part 2 here if you haven't. The second ride we rode in Star City was the Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs ride. Pictures inside the tunnel aren't allowed so we just snapped some pictures before we took off. She sat with her Tita Donna during the ride.

Keisha's Star City Adventure Part 2 - The Grand Carousel

This is the Part 2 of Keisha's Star City Adventure. Here are pics of Keisha's first ride in Star City, the Grand Carousel. She rode it with her Lola Monic, Tita Donna, and her sister Nicole.

Falling in line for the Grand Carousel

We're finally here! The long line is over.

Keisha's Star City Adventure Part 1 - Star City, Here we Come!

I've decided to divide Keisha's Star City Adventure on her birthday into several parts as we took so many pictures. Putting all of the pictures into 1 post just doesn't seem right as the post would appear to be too long on the homepage. Part 1 is about Keisha getting ready for Star City and our arrival there as well.

We're here! The entrance to Star City.

Just Got Home from Shopping

All of us - Henry, Keisha, Nicole, my mom in law, and I just got home from SM Valenzuela. Going to the mall was not our plan for today. Instead, we were supposed to go to the cemetery in Bulacan to visit my husband's dead relatives. Our initial plan was that I'd just meet all of them at the bus terminal in Monumento after I get off from work. But an hour before my shift ended, I called home only to find out they were still asleep. Keisha and my mom in law ended up scaring themselves silly after watching several horror movies and ended up sleeping at 3am.

So after work, I went straight home and everyone just got out of bed. There was no food, no breakfast, and everyone was just too lazy to move. So we ended up having brunch at the mall. We ate at Mang Inasal's with their Unlimited Rice Promo. I have to admit, the chicken was great, but I found their buttered garlic fried rice fantastic. Henry ended up eating 3 orders of rice, I ate 2 orders of rice, and my mom in law ended up eating 1 and a half - her rice and half of Keisha's rice.

At the Supermarket, we also bought some pizza toppings and crust - we're having homemade pizza for dinner later.
